Bart is a Fund Advisor with Industry Ventures, manages Stephens Industry, L.P. and offers our team a unique public markets perspective to inform our investment decisions.  Bart is the Managing Partner of Stephens Investment Management, LLC, (SIM) a firm he co-founded in 2002 with his brother Brad Stephens.  SIM is a family owned, San Francisco based investment firm that manages a series of private investment partnerships.  SIM’s area of investment focus is on small, undiscovered, publically traded growth companies.  SIM has pioneered “Nanocap” investing and is often involved with “broken IPOs,” venture backed companies, and “fallen angels.”

Prior to co-founding Stephens Investment Management Bart worked as both an operating executive and venture capitalist.  He was Executive Vice President – Venture Capital at Ivanhoe Capital.  Bart was a founding investor and Head of Business and Corporate Development for Oncology.com which grew to become one of the largest cancer related web sites.  He raised the capital for Oncology.com and negotiated the sale of the company to Pharmacia (now Pfizer, NYSE: PFE).  Bart began his career at E*TRADE (Nasdaq: ETFC) in product management and marketing.

Bart earned a BA in Political Science from Princeton University.
